Protection against dust, mist and toxic fumes

The best way to protect yourself from the hazards of fine dust generated during woodworking operations such as sanding, routing, sawing or turning is to wear a respirator mask. Respiratory filters are divided into 3 protection classes according to EN143 and are usually given a nominal protection factor (NSF). The NSF indicates the ratio of the concentration of pollutants in the air and inside the respirator.

PROTECTION AGAINST GASES AND VAPOURS

Respirators against gases and vapours have activated carbon filters responsible for the physical and/or chemical absorption of hazardous substances. These are highlighted by marked letters and colours.
A = Organic gases and vapours with a boiling point above 65°C
Class 1, 2, 3
B = Inorganic gases and vapours (excluding carbon monoxide)
Class 1, 2, 3

CLASSES

There are 3 protection classes for each type of gas filter, depending on the amount of pollutants the filter can absorb.
Therefore, the choice is based on the predicted concentration of the pollutant:
1 = low / 1,000 ppm
2 = medium / 5,000 ppm
3 = high / 10,000 ppm
